About Gulf Home Wise
Gulf Home Wise is a practical home guide for people living in Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, the UAE, Oman and Saudi Arabia. It covers the problems that come with homes in this climate: air conditioning that runs most of the year, desert dust, coastal humidity, hard water, rooftop tanks, and utility bills that change with the season and your residency status.
Who runs it
Gulf Home Wise is run by Mohamed Ikram, founder of QIX99, a web and digital agency based in Doha, Qatar. Ikram lives with the same summers, utility bills and dust storms these guides are written about, and started the site because most home advice online is written for cold, wet climates and doesn't apply here.
What we publish
Each guide is written for one country and one problem: how Kahramaa's tariff bands work, what Bahrain's salt air does to railings and AC units, how Ejar splits maintenance between tenants and landlords in Saudi Arabia. We name local utilities, regulators and price ranges in local currency, and we say plainly when a job needs a licensed professional.
How guides are made
Ikram chooses the topics and sets the editorial rules. Research starts with official sources, such as utility tariff pages, civil defence and meteorology services and national standards bodies, and every guide lists its main sources at the end. AI tools help with research and drafting. We don't publish invented quotes or testimonials, and we update guides when rules or prices change. Read the full process in our Editorial Policy.
Corrections
Prices, tariffs and rules in the Gulf change often. If you spot something wrong or out of date, email contact@gulfhomewise.com with the page link and we'll check it and update the guide.
Independence
Gulf Home Wise isn't paid by utilities, manufacturers or contractors to recommend them. Brands are mentioned because they're what's sold in local stores. The site may show advertising, and ads never decide what we recommend. See our Advertising Policy.
